Cremation Ceremony

HHPRWebCremation Ceremony, May 23rd, 2013

Preparations are being made for the cremation of the Holy Body of His Holiness Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche, which will take place at Namdroling Monastery on May 23, 2013. Nearly 800 international guests are expected at Namdroling for this holy ceremony. Many more will join us via a live webcast on the Palyul Live Webcasting channel at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/Namdroling, password “dungchod.”

Participating if you cannot attend in person:

On the day of the cremation ceremony, we will strengthen our connection as one worldwide sangha through watching the live broadcast together, either at your local dharma center or by gathering with dharma friends at home. Please keep in touch with your local center for specific plans. As soon as we know the time locally we will post and email the information.

Locally, here in Montana, we will be gathering at Namdroling Temple to watch the live broadcast. The temple will be open all day for those wishing to offer prayers and do practice and connect with the mindstream of our teachers.

Once, after eating lunch with a small gathering of fifty students, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche rose to leave, turned back, smiled, and said, “It is good to gather together like one family.” In the same way it will be wonderful to be together in this way as one international family.

Supporting the ceremony and the sangha:

We’ll also have the chance to connect with our teachers and the teachings by making offerings for the cremation ceremony and to the sangha of Palyul tulkus, khenpos, lamas, monks, and nuns. If you would like to join in the offerings made by the U.S. centers, please contact reb@namdrolingmt.org.

On Saturday, May 25, we celebrate an important Buddha Day: Saga Dawa Duchen. This is the anniversary of Buddha's enlightenment and paranirvana. On this day, all actions, both positive and negative are multiplied 100 million times. Practice will begin at 6:30 PM with Bodhisattva Vows, Shakymuni Buddha Practice and then Shower of Blessings Tsok. Please bring an unopened finger food, flowers, a monetary offering or offerings, as is traditional for these practices. Please come early to help set up tsok, and plan on staying afterwards to help clean up, if you can. This is a very auspicious time, and we encourage all of the community to attend!
